BASA Foundation with financial support from WASTE, Netherlands, has been working with Sakhipur Municipality under the project titled “Financial Inclusion Improves Sanitation & Health” to achieve integrated & sustainable WASH and waste management services aiming to promote private sector participation. The project is designed to facilitate and strengthen the potential businesses associated with safe sanitation and municipal solid waste management value chain. It also adopts an inclusive approach for the integrated management system to ensure the participation and engagement of a wide range of private sectors including social business organizations, informal workers and their cooperatives in the business of waste and sanitation services. In co-operation with Sakhipur Municipality, the project works are addressed to the integrated management system covering the total value chain starting from waste generation, collection, separation, processing, transportation, reuse and finally ultimate disposal; being in line with the municipal ambition to deliver effective waste collection and sanitation services and safe disposal of all collected wastes to make their city clean, green, safe and climate resilient.
